Welcome to our first blog post! It's Anna here, enjoying a moment outside on this lazy summer day. While I'm watching the alpacas graze contently in the pasture, I can hear the fiber mill inside grinding away, gearing up for a very busy summer ahead. Not only are we producing more yarn than ever (!), we are also working on some new yarn lines to debut at our upcoming workshops and events.
The latest line to grace our store display is Celestial, a dreamy variegated sequence dyed onto our white cotton sateen blend. Celestial is available in a 3-ply sport weight, for the finer knitters out there, and a 3-ply worsted weight. Every skein is totally unique so Celestial is perfect for one skein wonder projects. For my next knitting project I'm dying to incorporate this into a lightweight summer shirt!
Also coming soon is our newest yarn, Cumulus, designed by our very own Emma Coates. Cumulus is a super soft blend featuring 85% alpaca, 10% mink, and (for the first time ever at ANF) 5% angora rabbit fiber, which if you've never felt it, is the softest coziest fiber ever! The yarn is a 2-ply sport weight and comes in a natural dark smoky gray color. Did I mention this yarn is super soft? I honestly cannot stop touching it.
We are excited to be ordering some new knitting patterns from our friend and business partner, Anne, at Bare Naked Wools. Anne designs her patterns based around her yarns which are spun here at America's Natural Fiberworks. So we are delighted to offer her patterns to go along with some of our own yarn blends. Liz Worley, our knitwear designer at the Yarn Barn, is also working on creating some patterns of her own, so lots of new patterns are coming our way and we can't wait!
Despite our busy days in the mill, we are still trying to find time to knit and craft on these lovely summer days. Tonight is our monthly craft night so we're looking forward to sitting down, crafting, and planning our upcoming events over a glass of Old Schoolhouse Wine. For those of you who live in Southwestern Ohio, you're welcome to join us for craft night the last Thursday of every month. We love seeing new faces and new crafts!
Enjoy your weekend and your Fourth of July festivities and stayed tuned next Thursday for more updates from Robbie, Carrie, Liz, Emma, and Anna at the Yarn Barn @ Blessed Criations!
