Hello Everyone! As August comes to a close, I would like to start off this post by congratulating our August Craft Along contest winner, Nancy Clark! The challenge of this month's Craft Along was to incorporate at least one skein of our Celestial yarn into a project finished by the end of August.
Remember these? Our Celestial yarns are ever-changing, so you'll never get bored of them!
A month ago I watched Nancy pick her colors; a subtle fall-toned skein of celestial and a complementary forest green sock yarn; knowing that she was certainly going to create something beautiful. And sure enough she did! Nancy turned her yarn into a cozy pair of knit socks perfect for autumn. Aside from winning the prize of more Celestial yarn to knit with, she now has a handmade pair of socks that she plans to give as a gift to her sister. An all-around win for Nancy! Congratulations and thank you for participating!
Nancy's cozy socks, knit with a skein of Celestial Sport weight, and a skein of Grey Skies Delight in Forest Green.
Liz will be announcing the September Craft Along Challenge soon, so be sure to check our Facebook page, or visit the store for information about that. We welcome anyone interested in fiber arts, no matter what skill level, to join our Craft Alongs. They are super fun and creative!
Back to life on the farm, we have been spending our little break between the Yarn Crawl and the coming Wool Gathering at Young's Dairy, cranking out some new yarns, rovings, and pattern kits. And maybe goofing off just a little bit (like that's anything new...)
The girls in the field enjoying some sun.
Impromptu photo shoot for Carrie's woven scarves.
Emma being silly as always.
Here's a little preview of some of the things we've been working on.
After getting cleared out at the Yarn Crawl, we finally have some fresh new rovings on the shelves. Made up of a blend of alpaca and merino, these vibrant rovings are ideal for hand-spinning. You'll have to come check them out in person, pictures just don't do them justice! We'll be at the Young's Dairy Wool Gathering on September 16th and 17th and we'll be bringing these beauties with us, so stop by our booth and feel them ;) More info about the Wool Gathering can be found here : youngsdairy.com/wool-gathering.
Also new are these sparkly super-wash merino yarns (below) in black, dark blue, and light blue with complimentary sparkle throughout. They are a super soft and strong blend of merino and nylon, and best of all, they are 100% machine washable! The gray yarns on the right are our new fall sock yarn designed by Carrie. Featuring gray merino with a hint of red, this yarn is absolutely perfect for socks because of its durability and its striking subtle striping pattern.
Now that August is over, we are looking forward to the busy month of September. Stayed tuned next week for an update on all the September events and news we have coming up! As always thanks for reading and ~ keep crafting ~ You all are awesome!
